Bolzano parking garage: the road to sustainable urban development with energy storage
Bolzano faced the challenge of maximizing the use of their on-site solar energy to power charging stations and reduce dependence on the grid.
The project challenge was solved by installing XOLTA's 79 kWh battery system. This system optimizes the utilization of the solar cell system, which generated surplus energy during periods of high solar intensity. At the same time, a stable and green energy supply was ensured for the parking garage's charging stations in order to support the use of electric cars in the local area.
The solution
With XOLTA's battery system, excess energy can now be stored and used when needed. An advanced optimization algorithm also controls the battery's charging and discharging cycles, ensuring that energy is released at times of high demand, such as in the morning and evening when electric cars need to be charged.
This solution offers several advantages for the Bolzano parking garage. By storing excess solar energy, the parking garage can maximize the utilization of its renewable energy sources, thereby increasing energy efficiency. The battery system ensures that there is always sufficient energy available for the electric vehicle charging stations, even when energy production is low, which means a stable energy supply. Using stored energy at times of high demand reduces dependence on expensive energy from the grid, which lowers overall energy costs.
