The situation
In Bolzano/Italy a parking house is fitted with a 149kW PV installation. The owner of the parking house a local utility company has installed ev chargers for its service fleet consisting of electric vehicles.
The solution
A 79 kWh XOLTA energy storage battery is installed for better utilization of the PV energy. Surplus PV production during the day is stored to supply the EV charging during mornings and evenings. For optimal storage, an optimization algorithm controls the battery charging/discharging by foreseeing the PV production, electricity price and EV charging.
The outcome

Increased self consumption resulting in reduced cost for EV charging compared to charging directly from the grid.
